This book is fantastic! I love laying in my bed at night and coloring. I wanted something with thick perforated pages. This is the one. I’m so impressed with this book- it’s huge. It’s close to an inch think! It’s got so many adorable pages and I can’t wait to get started on them all. I tore a page out last night and used my gel pens- there was no bleed through. Every page is blank on the back except for a nice quote with a tiny picture you can color. In the front of the book, there are several tips on great coloring. There are also several pages that show you great color combinations. I highly recommend this adult coloring book for children and adults alike. You will love it!

I've just recently gotten into adult coloring and I absolutely can't say enough about this book! I recommend it to everyone. In fact, I just bought 2 more to give my girlfriends. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE! ALL the pages. There is a great variety too! I will keep buying from her because I do not think she will disappoint.

I absolutely love this coloring book. This author draws the best pictures. The pages are firm and smooth and one sided which I like. My gel pens color very nicely on it.

I received a free copy of the Kindle version of this book in return for an honest review.I enjoyed this dual biography of the daughters of Louis B. Mayer. As the scions of one of the most legendary producers and studio heads in Hollywood's already-stacked history, both Irene and Edith Mayer had difficult obstacles to overcome in their lives. The fact they did so, creating identities and accomplishments in their own right, is a testament to their drive and willpower.It's clear that Jennifer Lafferty has a passion for the topic and the history of Hollywood; the book is packed with information and anecdotes, and her writing is clear and direct. It is an easy book to find yourself taking big chunks out of at each sitting.This is a good biography of two women with missed potential to be a great story about them and the worlds they lived in. The book could use the hand of a strong editor, both to proofread and to provide structure to the story. I wanted those early days of the motion picture industry and the lifestyles of those who were a part of it to come alive to me, and I don't feel it ever did. It feels more like a book report, full of information but lacking any sort of emotional heft. I would have loved to spend more time on the relationship between these women, the legends that they must have interacted with, and the challenges they faced as daughters of one of the most powerful men in Hollywood.If I could speak to the author, I would suggest she pull this book. Find the relatives of the Mayers, Goetz's and Selznick's, interview them exhaustively, and pitch this biography to the major publishing houses. It has the potential to be one of the seminal biographies about women and early Hollywood.

This is a book with no footnotes, note ends, and no references. This author quoted from other books and maybe Google so nothing new or fresh. She never contacted or spoke to a member of the Mayer, Selznick,or Goetz family. Her favorite sentences seemed to be, " We will never know for sure but." I have talked to a member of the Mayer family and she said they were upset at the inaccuracies and believe she should pull the book. I agree.

So far this book is very boring. Almost like it was written for grade school kids. I'm still reading but so far I'm not impressed. The book has zero depth

Some Hollywood biographies, while in depth, are very hard to read. They are dense and can be convoluted, trying to pack too much in too little space. That is SO not the case with Movie Dynasty Princesses! An easy read. They various relationships are easy to follow and it's a fascinating look at two vastly different women who happened to be the daughters of Louis B. Mayer. Quite enjoyable!

I really enjoyed this book. I love old Hollywood and am always reminded you can never judge a book by its cover. While being the daughters of a Hollywood mogul sounds like a charmed life, it wasn't without its pitfalls and exacerbated by strict parenting. Interesting how two girls can grow up to be quite different and quite resentful of each other. Easy to read, interesting story and peek behind the scenes of the silver screen. I'd recommend.

When I saw the blurb for The Age of Misadventure I was really looking forward to reading about the adventures of these women. Sadly I wasn’t for me. I expected it to be a humourous tale but didn't find it as funny as I'd hoped.Georgie had a need to help and take care of people and did so whether they wanted her to or not. Georgie insisted on getting her sister out of town after learning a gangster was after her. This man had worked with her husband in a dicey business deal and was owed money that he was trying to collect. Her sister loved her husband deeply and didn't care what shady deals he was involved in. Actually, getting out of town wasn't a bad idea. Georgie's daughter and aunt were part of the group leaving town. Her daughter was on her way to live with her new boyfriend and wasn't happy that the other women were going with her. Especially her mother. What young woman wants her mother helping (interfering) with her life? I found Georgie's elderly aunt's (Nanny) antics more sad than amusing. She needed a lot more care than Georgie could give her.Two of the characters were particularly irritating when they were in hiding. Both Georgie and Bonnie left the house at different times even though they knew better. By this time Jade was with her boyfriend but any time she was with her mother (Georgie) she acted like a grumpy teenager telling her mother to stay out of her life. I didn't like Nanny at all. I couldn't have put up with her. It was funny that she asked for a Guinness so often. Once she got it, she was content.While the women had quite an adventure hiding from the gangster, I found the middle of the story slow moving. Then it got really exciting toward the end.The good thing about opinions though is that not everyone has the same ones, so this book will really catch the attention of many readers. All that being said, it was a good book.I received this book from NetGalley.

This was the first book I read by Judy Leigh. I loved her writing style, her characters and the story. I thought this was my kind of book from the cover and I am so happy that I have found a new (to-me) wonderful author.I adore stories with various ages of characters, especially if the story has a character of the older generation. This book has people with ages varying from 21 to 88 years old. I am so happy when an older person is valued and cared for by others and when it is such an important part of the plot of the story.The story had me interested from the very beginning and kept me involved until it ended. The book was funny, intense and heartwarming.At the beginning of the book, you know the characters on their surface; Georgie - a divorced 55 year old woman still unhappy about the end of her marriage and a bit stuck in her daily rut, Jade (Georgie’s daughter) - a young woman trying to be independent and pry herself away from her mother’s constant watching eyes, Bonnie (Georgie’s sister) - a vulnerable, kind woman being used by her no-good husband, and Nanny Basham (Georgie and Bonnie’s aunt) - an older woman of 88 years that is going day to day, surviving but not living anymore.As the story progress, the characters become very multilayered and just as in real life, not what they seemed to be at the surface.Georgie is the ever giving overseer of her loved ones, running herself ragged trying to be all to everyone, usually putting her own needs last. When Bonnie’s no-good husband’s latest deal goes sour, Georgie organizes a trip to give Bonnie some distance and the fact that it coincides with Jade’s moving to live with her boyfriend in a new area, all the better.Unfortunately, the trouble follows them and a simple “girl’s trip” turns into so much more. All four woman grow in ways unseen before this trip. All four were strong before, but situations occur that make their strength come out full force.This book was such an enjoyable journey. I am so happy to have found this author and this book.I want to thank Avon Books UK, the author, and NetGalley.com for allowing me to read the ARC of this book. I hope in writing this review other readers will pick up this book to read.

THE AGE OF MISADVENTURE by Judy Leigh is a madcap adventure that made me laugh, made me tear up, and infuriated me at one point, but most of all it entertained me from start to finish.Georgie Turner has managed well on her own ever since her divorce and she doesn't need romance in her life. She has her own home, a successful business, and she adores the women in her life - her daughter Jade, her sister Bonnie, and her old Aunt Nan. But Jade is getting older and has fallen in love and wants Georgie to stop smothering her, Bonnie is a trophy wife to a crook, and Nan seems to be fading away before her eyes. When Bonnie's husband gets himself into trouble with a gangster and cheats on Bonnie again, Georgie sees the chance to whisk all of the people who matter the most to her away until the dust settles and Bonnie is no longer in danger, but things certainly do not always go to plan. But maybe these women will find their inner strength and forge a closer bond somewhere along the way.This book worked well for me and the characters were all unique and engaging although I have to say that Nan was by far my favourite - she made me laugh and she made me sad and there was never a dull moment with old Nan. Georgie is a more complicated character and there were times where I was completely on Jade's side and could see how overprotective Georgie could be, but I'm also a mum who would do anything to protect her kids so I could understand it a little too. Bonnie drove me nuts!There is plenty of ups and downs, twists and turns, which makes this story flow well from start to finish and I fully enjoyed THE AGE OF MISADVENTURE by Judy Leigh.*I voluntarily reviewed this book from the Publisher

This book was all I expected and more! I was timid about working with silk before I purchased Sara Lamb's book on spinning silk. She touches on everything one needs to know on silk spinning; the different types and grades, dying, spinning, weaving, knitting, as well as examples of her mistakes from her personal experiences of working with silk. The pictures are quite beautiful and it is obvious that she is a very talented fiber artist! The information she shares in her book is much needed info that is usually only barely touched upon in other spinning books. I love silk and am very excited to begin spinning it on its' own. Previously, I was a bit intimidated to try spinning silk without blending with other fibers, and attempting to dye it was something I have only thought of doing! After reading Sara's book, I feel more confident about working with silk. It's all here; everything you need to know about working with silk!! I highly recommend this for anyone that has ever wanted to work with silk fiber but was intimidated! Well worth the price!!

Love this book for all the educational content. The inspirations are wonderful, just wish there had been a link to one or two of the items in the Project Gallery, with instructions as to how it was sewn together. All in all, this is a wonderful resource.

I wasn't able to see much information about this book at the time that I requested it, so I chose based on the title. I'm a big fan of Cook's Illustrated, and I hoped this title would round out my other recipe books for two with actual meal menus, or even one-pot meals. It offers neither of those, so it was almost a complete disappointment for me. This appears to be a gift-type book for beginner cooks, so maybe it's a good housewarming gift (although one of others I list below might be better even for that).But here's the good/bad, IMO:Pros:1. Full-color photos for each recipe. I really prefer photos for inspiration when I'm sorting out a week's meals, so I was glad to see them here. This is the single advantage this cookbook has over some other titles in this category.2. All recipes make two (often generous) servings. No math required to cut down larger recipes.3. Nothing too complicated. Recipes are pretty easy to follow, without really advanced skills needed.4. Nice intro sections for beginners. There are decnet tips for hardware in the kitchen (pans, pots, etc.) and how to shop "smarter" for two.5. Two-page intro spread divides recipes by category, like "keeping it light" and "no need for takeout." BUT I don't really find these categories all that intuitive or useful. "Game day grub" is only likely to be useful from time to time - why not "fall/winter meals" or "holidays" or "slow cooker specials"? By the way, most of the categories they list have precisely 3 recipes, so don't expect a ton of "easy weeknight dinners" or "one-pot meals." You'll get 3 of each.6. Each recipe only takes one page. No flipping back and forth to complete the recipe.Cons1. Nothing new from The Complete Cooking for Two Cookbook: 650 Recipes for Everything You'll Ever Want to Make. If you already own that book, you already own all these recipes. Given that the Complete version has hundreds more recipes, it's arguably a far better deal, even though it doesn't have as many pretty pictures, and you may have to turn pages in the middle of a recipe.2. Really basic. This is only a con if you're not a beginner, of course. But I think the title should make it clear that this is book intended for new cooks.3. No menus!! Since it's called "dinners for two," one might assume (as I did) that there'd be lots of suggestions to serve entree A with sides B and C, or that there'd be lots of one-pan meals, or that there'd at least be a section listing menus. Nope. None of those things. It's just a bunch of main courses, and you're on your own for sides, wine/beer pairings, dessert ideas, anything that really makes these complete "dinners." Given that this book is beginner-oriented, this seems like a serious oversight.4. Info could be much better organized. It's a slog to read through the excessive text for the good bits. For example, the intro includes some paragraphs on quantities you should buy of various sides if you're shopping for two, like brussels sprouts, potatoes, greens, etc. But instead of a handy chart or even bullet points that make it easy to scan and/or look up, it's a series of wordy paragraphs. They could have included a ton more info if they'd thought this through better.5. Recipes aren't very organized. They're grouped by protein, but there aren't dividers within the book to delineate the sections. Nor does the organization within sections make sense - for example, why not put all the Italian-style chicken recipes together?6. Uninspired recipes. Most of the recipes they chose for this book are pretty easy to find with the most basic internet search: burgers, chicken piccata, lasagna, manicotti, eggplant parmesan, and so on. I've tried to make meal plans from this cookbook, and just can't get excited about anything (or I don't need a cookbook to make it, like spaghetti).7. No nutritional info. There's plenty of room left on most of the recipes for even basic calorie, fat, protein info. Lack of this info is a strike against this cookbook for sure, especially considering its other shortcomings.Overall, I'll likely offer this cookbook to a young, aspiring home cook to try their hand at some basic American recipes from a book with pretty pictures and reasonable instructions. But I recommend one of several other cookbooks if you want any of the above "cons" addressed: The Complete Cooking for Two Cookbook: 650 Recipes for Everything You'll Ever Want to Make, or Healthy Cooking for Two (or Just You): Low-Fat Recipes with Half the Fuss and Double the Taste; or One Pan, Two Plates: More Than 70 Complete Weeknight Meals for Two, or One Pan & Done: Hassle-Free Meals from the Oven to Your Table, or even the delightful The Pleasures of Cooking for One. While you're at it, you might as well get a copy of Small-Batch Baking: When Just Enough for 1 or 2. . . Is Just Enough!, because dessert.

I suscribe to cooks illustrated magazine, this book was not of that caliber. It was so basic and generic I have my doubts it was even fro the same publisher. Save your money and just google recipes for 2. I assure you the results will be far more exciting and dynamic.

Nice cookbook from America's Test Kitchen! Fun to look through, and especially nice for busy working, young, or older couples looking for recipes only for two! I gave this along with a smaller bright red casserole dish for a friend's Christmas gift!

Easy recipes for great tasting meals.

It had many of the same recipes as the Americas Test Kitchen cookbook for Two.

Great pared down recipes. It is nice to be able to cook for two and not have tons of leftovers.

Some ingredients were not something I would have in the house, but overall I have found this to be helpful.
