Just came back from a trip to Ireland. We used this map and our Garmin GPS and I wouldn't have had it any other way. This map definitely does not have all the small roads that we would have needed, but it let us know the major roads that we should look for and let us get a clear picture of the 1,200 mile journey we took around the country. Seriously, buy a map if you want to explore the country. Also go to all the scenic look-out points on the map, they were worth every second of driving time.

Great map to get an overall sense for cities and landmarks/points of interest. Not so great for actual driving directions. Only the major roads are on it and my Irish friend told me there are even a few missing! Do yourself a favor and get an international data plan for Google maps or a bigger map to do the actual navigating.

Very nice map and this is coming from a GPS addict. We will be traveling Ireland by car on our own and the detail on this map is exceptional. The coated paper should make it durable for folding and unfolding in the car. I will certainly buy the same map for other countries where we plan to drive.

Great map with lots of labeled points of interest. We used it very frequently on our road trip through Ireland in 2017, and found it to be better than our SmartPhone and GPS maps for finding points of interest. Sturdy after being folded/unfolded repeatedly. Bear in mind that some points of interest, though, are spelled differently on this map than they are spelled on the signs in Ireland (one example is the Brownsville Dolman).

We used this map to plan our trip to Ireland. It helped us make plans by listing most of the sites and places we wanted to visit. Without this map, our plans would have been much harder to figure out. We drove all over Southern Ireland and this map helped us plan out what we could reasonably do each day. I would recommend using this to figure what sites or attractions you want to visit, underline them on the map, group them, and then plan your days accordingly.

Great map view of the Island. A little tough at times to find detail and certainly not easy to use while in the car and getting 'lost' on the back roads of this wonderful country. Still it was quite helpful in doing route planning along the main and rural roads. Major points of interest were easily located. The map is coated so it held up very well to wear and tear. The only way to make it better would also have the effect of making it worse in a lot of ways. It's not an atlas. Making this into that type of resource would also take away the convenience.

With cell phones and GPS I didn't know if I would have to use this when I visited Ireland but I'm happy I got it. In the areas where you don't get coverage or your data is running out this was a lifesaver and I'm happy I got it

National Geographic publishes great maps. Because of that I guess they are expensive. Ireland, since the collapse of the Celtic Tiger boom is eager for visitors and provides great free information for the tourist who is willing to look for it. The map of Ireland might be useful for the driver who intends to spend weeks touring the entire island. Most visitors don't have the time or resources for that and focus their time on a specific area for which this map does not have enough detail. The Dublin map is detailed, but free maps of Dublin with enough detail to satisfy the visitor are available all over the place.

This book brings back a lot of scenes from the earlier entries which is great as it allows you to remember how much have our young heroes grown.We finally see a conclusion to many of the storylines that had been dragging for many books. And oh my how did these end! Spoilers below...Masema, Verin, the rebel Aes Sedai, Elaida, Garret & Siuan, Graendal (?)... So many loose ends tied....Egwene's encounter against the Seanchan was the epic consummation of my official liking of this character whom I only started to really like in book 11. Her development in this book is enough for me to like her as a character now. Not only does she display maturity, patience, control... She's a total badass... I got goosebumps reading about her second night serving Elaida... And her quick thinking during the Seanchan raid!!! She rocked this book...Rand Al'Thor... He got very big developments... His second encounter with Sehmirage brought him to the brink of destruction... We see a Rand overwhelmed by the weight of his duty... The end, while a bit on the cheesy end was beautifully written. The emotion, the stakes... It was a personal struggle that somehow felt as epic as his encounters with the Forsaken... He had the most difficult battle so far... The battle against his own soul... And love won. Beautiful.This is one of my top 3 now... There with Shadow Rising and The Fires of Heaven.

Yes Sanderson is different than Jordan, and in some ways that's a good thing. The story was slipping out of Jordan's hands like Saidar for Elaine during her pregnancy. Sanderson exerts control of the story and gets things done. Tarmon Gai'don starts to feel imminent rather than just being a misty figure on a distant horizon that never gets any closer.Egwene's battle for the white tower continues, and she is incredible in this book. She makes one of the most quotable statements of the series as her confrontation with Elaine hits critical mass: “I’d name you Darkfriend as well, but I suspect the Dark One would perhaps be embarassed to associate with you”.Rand's battle with madness and despair continues. He's on the verge of losing the last battle before it even begins in earnest. It wasn't as powerful a moment for me as some, but many readers were deeply moved by the process of working through that.Verin, a character I paid little attention to throughout the series, has an amazing moment of her own raising herself to the status of a critical player.Perrin and Matt are almost an afterthought in this book, and if there was any time spent on Elayne I've already forgotten it. Aviendha is set up for important personal growth that is yet to come.This book is filled with great moments and the story moves. It is the first time since book six that I thoroughly enjoyed myself almost the entire time.Well done Sanderson and RIP Jordan. Thank you for making it possible for your story to be finished.

Across the world gray skies hide the sun for weeks on end. Set against this backdrop, The Gathering Storm details the beginning of Tarmon Gai'don.The Gathering Storm focuses mostly on Egwene and her battle from within the Tower and also on Rand and his growing emotional instability as he follows the road to what he thinks will be his own demise. This book is tightly focused, delivering powerful emotional punches and quite a few answers and resolutions for some major characters. While there is a small bit on Mat, Egwene and Rand are the centers of the book and all the other points of view are interwoven into the main plots rather than left to begin new plots. Mercifully, there is no Elayne in this book. And very little of Perrin.The Egwene sections of the book are some of the most powerful of the series. It's interesting to continue to watch her rise. And offers a good foil for the Rand sections of the book because we continue to see him fall. Into possible madness. Into emotional turmoil. Into self-doubt. And though there are some confrontations with Forsaken here (including an intriguing one with Ishamael-Moridin), it is Rand himself who seems more frightening than the Forsaken.The Gathering Storm is a remarkable achievement because it brings back the feeling of the first six books. Not bad for someone who was not the author of the first six books.Apparently Sanderson also loved sniffing because he returned the level of sniffing to a point not seen since A Crown of Swords. So many grand moments here, rich action rooted in realized characters. True conflict head on. Prose with syntax that doesn’t twist the brain with its incompetence. An erasure of wooden character tics and erasure of repetitive descriptions. Scenes that elicited both gooseflesh and tears. Yes, a welcome and pleasurable reprieve. Because of RJ’s plodding, I am now weary of this story and characters, impatient for it to be over, but I’m happy and pleased the denouement is in such a capable writer’s hands.
