This book is amazing, because I didn't know how many different types of Fondue were out there. I knew of meat, cheese, and desert...but this book has ideas for Thanksgiving Turkey fondue...cranberry dipping sauce recipe included. There were Asian broth fondue and more. If you ever wanted try new food and impress your friends buy this book!

Great resource for beginning Fondue-ers. My husband and I have recently begun to fondue on weekends as a way to spend more quality time with the family. Our three boys (ages 11, 21, and 23) love to do this with us as well. We've all got our favorite recipes so far, but are always willing to try new ones.

I read this book in one evening to plan our Christmas Eve dinner. It was so helpful that I decided to do fondue again on NYE.

Just had a fondue party for my Ten Year Old and 8 of her friends. They loved it all. We tried the 3 Cheese, the Garlic and the Caribbean Shrimp. Will be using this book a lot. Fondue is fun!!!!

There are a lot of alcohol based recipes in here, which I know is normal for fondue. I was just hoping to find some good beginning recipes for my 13 year old to make and this book just doesn’t have them. However the quality of the book is very good and I think once we get more experienced making fondues that this book will prove useful.

I purchased this book along with a fondue pot. The book really does teach you everything you need to know about fondue. It even explains the difference between the different fondue pots. The recipes are easy to follow along to, even for the rookie fondue maker.

A very fun book we bought to go along with our fondue set we bought at Bed Bath & Beyond. Has everything from sauces to dips for all kinds of meat, and also the fun dessert fondues!

The genius of history Professor Ferguson, of Harvard University and the Hoover Institute, is widely acclaimed. His ability to summarize the broad sweep of history in using easy language for non-academics is on display in many of his books.Note: this book is not without its critics, particularly among Economists, who can be a cantankerous lot with a wide variety of political viewpoints. The book succeeds as a historical narrative and does not lay claim to technical economic exposition.Ferguson has the ability to open up the broad sweep of history with easy terms and lots of facts to portray a clear picture. The pertinent statistics that abound in his narrative are particularly helpful in clarifying the history and impact of money. Beginning with money lenders in ancient Mesopotamia (a beginning form of credit) the author shows us how the ascent of money has been essential to the ascent of mankind.The ascent of money is described as an evolutionary process with development throughout history of new mediums of exchange. Capital mutations bring about the creation of new markets and new products, which are created by a system under capitalism, which provides growth in the monetary system to accommodate economic growth and expansion of the population. One example of the ongoing change in the world of business and technology that is cited: of the 100 largest private companies in the year 1919 only 29 remained in the top 100 by the year 2000.The author shows us the development of new tools in the supply of money from barter systems to using commodities as money, to the first coins in the Mediterranean region (600BC), to the Inca Empire which had no money (presumably applauded by Karl Marx but not John Lennon), to precious metals backed by coinage in the era of Pizarro, to the introduction of banking systems with the Medici Empire in 15th Century Florence, to the introduction of stocks, bonds, insurance, and international money markets, and to the subprime mortgage debacle.Within the narrative we get the broad sweep of many of the greatest economists including Adam Smith, Friedrich von Hayek, Ludvig von Mises, Joseph Schumpeter, Karl Marx, Frank Knight, JM Keynes, and Milton Friedman.The Author asserts that the basis of money is TRUST. National currencies therefore float in value compared to other currencies depending upon international confidence and expected stability. Credit also is dependent upon the commitment that loans will be repaid. According to the author with other things being equal, more “money” only increases prices and does not enrich a nation.One theory espoused by a number of individuals in popular discourse is the world would be better off if there were no money! The author does not refute this argument directly, perhaps assuming that his readers are schooled in basic economics. Economic history teaches that in a culture where there is no money, a monetary system is created in order that goods and services can be exchanged between individuals. Only if no item in the culture has any value would there be no need for money. If anything, perhaps the life of an individual, does have value then there would arise the desire for a monetary system in order to protect or exchange the items of value between individuals. Ferguson does mention the “no money” topic regarding both Karl Marx and the Inca civilization. Little is known about the Inca Empire except that its time of prosperity was very short. Marxism seemed to flourish during the first half of the twentieth century but seemed to collapse by the end of the century, with many formerly Communist or socialist nations moving back toward widespread property rights and capitalism.

I appreciate and respect Mr Ferguson as an author and economist, but unfortunately, this book rated merely as "meh" for me. It was a fairly easy read, and while some theories and observations may be controversial to some (or rather in some circles), I don't think there was anything earth shattering or that 'out there.' If you've had any education in economics, then most of this book will be old hat (or at least a good refresher) and not bring you too much new. While those new to the field, then, will gain from this book, I think there are better routes to go. So overall, maybe this book is for you, and though it's only average to me, I still look forward to reading more works from Niall Ferguson.

This book should be enjoyed by historians, economists, and those interested in the changing world around them. The author’s references to the natural world are innovative and enlightening, and makes his analysis somewhat unique.

Crisis, inflation, currencies, everything is in the book. Really worth reading it. It is easy to read, like a story or biography with superb prose and details. This ascent, however, follows a saw-tooth pattern of gains and losses through time. Ferguson does a good job following these vicissitudes. These different periods illustrate developments and the failures in the history of loans, banks, bonds, real estate, derivatives, Chimerica, and the financial community's efforts to attach biological terms to the financial world.Secondly, some have criticized Ferguson for only providing history that supports his political leanings. An argument could be made that this is a history of money and not politics although the two are highly intertwined and Ferguson does include politics in this history. I would think Ferguson tried to minimize the role of politics so criticisms of excluding Pinochet's human cost could be defended on these grounds.Thirdly, the history of money is filled with instances of the animal spirit or irrational exuberance of human thinking which explains the most recent recession. From the Medicis to the Rothschilds, John Law to Ken Lay, over confidence soon gets the better of us and therefore does explain the cause of today's recession.So I think Ferguson did a good job overall in combining micro details that provide a tactile connection to significant developments in the history of money and still achieves a macro understanding of money. Looking at the ledgers of the Medicis or the tablets that were used for crops keeps you on your toes while explaining the developments of the first lenders for example.My favorite parts of this book include the Dutch United East India company's power in world trade, German monetary policy after WW I, the role of bonds in the US civil war, the Chilean experiment, and the modern day stock market, 12 fold increase over 20 years.My least favorite part is the explanation of today's problems being the result of printing money. From my reading of the situation, it was the rating agencies who enabled the selling of the CDO's and mortgage company's ability to escape liability in their lending practices. Not the printing of money.I'm looking forward to reading Ferguson's next book "Civilization".

Buy it and save it. Great info. More concise than most med surg books used. This is the book that tells you what to do when shit goes wrong. Very detailed, but in a practical “I’m here to save lives” mentality. This is advanced compared to your med surg class. Instead if one chapter in your med surg book this is a whole book on it.This will help you be more competent in detecting when your patient is taking the turn for the worse if you work on med surg. Likely your patient will transfer to ICU, but perhaps not if you piece together the s/s soon enough.

Has been a very helpful textbook for me as someone who was previously a biology major before I went into nursing. Although I have only really thoroughly covered the first 10 chapters, I already appreciate its method of using more scientific terminology for laying the foundation of each chapter's concepts. Lists many helpful article references in each chapter and appears to have very few editing errors unlike other nursing textbooks I have read through. Good foundations textbook for ICU nursing concepts. Has really opened my eyes to concepts of pain control, sedation, and understanding the patient's perspective on their ICU stay. Thanks!

Some of my classmates said this text was a bit over their heads, and they're probably right, but I found this to be a rich resource and served as a great book for my critical care course in my ADN program. Used it frequently as my main text resource and earned one of the 4 A's in the class!

I rented this book on Amazon for a class. I loved it so much I turned around and bought it. I still use this book often. It is easy to read and understand, yet thoroughly extensive and in depth. This was my favorite book for all of nursing school. I wish I started my first semester with this book. It will definitely stay with me for the rest of my career.

If you want to know more about Victoria Jackson and how she got her start, this is the book for you. She goes into her life history, and how she got started as a famous make up artist. While she may be extremely talented, this book falls short on technique on how to properly apply make up. I would suggest looking at a few other books before making a final decision on this one. She has an excellent primer on how to properly groom your eyebrows. Her suggestions for other types of application are very basic, and they are ideas you most likely have already read somewhere else.

When I first saw this book, I didn't think I'd appreciate it because I already had a step-by-step makeup book and another would just be an extra. However, I was very wrong: not only is this book extremely extensive, including topics about kodak moments, hair, fitness, self-esteem etc., but it had the most amazing makeup tips! I thought I heard everything and had mastered the art of makeup application, but apparantly I hadn't. I always drag this book around with me because Victoria Jackson is *so* inspiring, and has tips for everything. EVERYTHING. It's not just makeup, it's about "making up" your LIFE. Plus, it's just a gorgeous book with great photography. If you're gonna own only one makeup book, this should be it.

I wanted to buy a GOOD book to make myself up for my wedding. Victoria Jackson loves to talk about herself... lady this is not an autobiography. And the entire USEFuLL info can put in 10 pages maximum. The information is very basic, any woman who has been using makeup and reading articles in magazines will know. No Creative looks, and even for eyes just one way of applying eyeshadow is given. Nothing about highlighting or glitter... not even the smoky eyed look.... Plus all she does is advertise her products, how everyone loves them. A book is supposed to be objective not preachy. And info on tools is very limited too.DON'T BUY THIS ONE........

I'm not sure if Microsoft used non-native English speakers or simply those not used to writing for the general public. Example: on page 717 the DB() function is described. Nowhere does the book say "DB = declining balance." Anyone who works in accounting would know what that means but the authors call it the "geometric-degressive" depreciation method. Who, outside of academics, talks like that??? Even the examples are hard to follow. I can live with digressions about tax consequence if only the writing was clear. I've purchased several of the inside-out series of books and this is the first one that really disappointed. Microsoft: if Einstein can explain relativity in straightforward terms, why can't you use authors who write clearly, with a practical orientation?

Her first thought was OH MY HE'S GORGEOUS AND HUGE AND IT'S TIME TO LOSE MY VIRGINITY. After punching the her competitor out time slows for both. The good thing is after Branden realized he had sex with a virgin he only acts slightly awkward and kinda angry, that part confused me.Any way the spend time together both trying to figure out how to make a relationship work. Visiting Las Vegas just got a new plan. After realizing the shop Scarlett wanted to buy to open a storefront was purchased by her competitor she shows how strong she really is and that's when both their lives changed. A new adventure begins. Marriage and children where in theirs.This book has comedy relief by way of a horrible comedian, both of their personalities are great, it has intense passionate scenes, and it leaves an opening for a book with one of Brendan's brothers as main character.

Quirky, steamy, cute and laugh-out-loud funny, I simply adored this book. This is a very fun, tongue-in cheek romance that will raise your temperature, have you laughing yourself silly and falling in love with this couple. Scarlett and Braden were simply amazing! I thoroughly enjoyed them as a couple and as individual characters. Braden was 100% hot! This tattooed, dirty talker was seriously an ovary overload on two legs. Scarlett was 100% unique. Smart, successful and shy she felt like a friend I didn't know I had been missing. In all I thought this was a fantastic read! (Just for your information: Braden has brothers!!) Let's hope that swoon worthiness runs in the family! Can not wait for more!! All thoughts and opinions in this review are my own.

I loved everything about Lark Avery’s Lucky Mix Up, from its publisher’s blurb (“Vibrators and handcuffs and lube, oh my!”) to the family business it’s heroine, Scarlet, inherits (sex toys - hey, somebody’s gotta sell them), to its meet cute (her box of samples breaks open and spills out into the hotel lobby right by our hero Braden), misunderstandings (Braden falsely presumes Scarlet is a high end prostitute and that her samples are the tools of her trade) and how these RomCom ingredients morph into on great (and beautifully written) romance (no, I’m stopping the descriptions here as I don’t want to spoil anything). But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises. The book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend.

Excellent, entertaining & funny contemporary billionaire romance. Scarlett inherited her father's sex toy business and was in Vegas for work. Suddenly, she meets Braden when her suitcase full of the company trade explodes. He assumes due to the "toys" that she has a different profession. He slowly shows her that he's there for business as well but the instant chemistry is explosive for both of them. The puns etc. Keep the reader entertained as well as the steamy moments that fit the story. I received a complementary copy of this book and chose to write a review. I enjoyed reading this quirky romance. I look forward to reading future books by this author.

He lives in Austin, Texas. Stephen Hanselman has worked for more than three decades in publishing as a bookseller, publisher and literary agent. I have been a fitness nut all my life, yet last year a combination of a reaction prescription drugs and latent back problems landed me on crutches...two back surgeries, 9 months now of physical therapy and still walking on two canes. Half of each day is spent in physical t herapy, and no one knows whether nerve damage will recover. I have my own consulting business, and I have avoided face to face meetings for fear of the reaction of clients and competitors to my physical infirmities...loss of business, loss of income, loss of lifestyle, loss of image, on and on. It was all getting deep into my head. Last week I heard Barry Ritholz on Bloomberg interview Ryan Holiday and discuss this book, which I promptly purchased. It has helped immensely in a single week to refocus and avoid a total flame out. I read the Stoics in college and later, but they never "spoke to me" like they do now. It is fundamentally a philosophy of coping. I still hang on to Charles Spurgeon, but so much of that is about what comes later; I needed something to help me with today. Interestingly, in reading through it (and half a dozen others I purchased since then), I have pondered how much we have drifted from our Graeco-Western traditions. The Founding Fathers were steeped in this stuff, but somewhere along the way we have all become tethered to the whims of feelings, including other's feelings, and the Stoics had the solution to these thousands of years ago. I can't control those, and so I don't allocate my precious limited resources to them. So I work around them. Adapt. The Media in this country inundates us with such distraction (the topic of another book by this author, which I also bought). What would a Stoic say to someone who says they "don't feel safe?" Probably tell them to take action within their control to be safe and give up on demanding that the entire world respond out of guilt, badgering or whatever to appease your feelings. And then the Stoic would get on about his business.Its a great, and dangerous, little book. Thank you, Mr. Holiday, for bringing it back in an easily digestible format.

I was looking for a book that was similar to a devotional without the religious aspect. I also wanted a daily reminder of mindfulness, awareness, philosophy, meditation, and thought. This book is exactly what I was looking for. I would recommend it to anyone.
